ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2008-09
Justice Tankha Memorial Institute for Special Children
1. SAMPOORN has been running a school since 2006 in the slums of Gandhi Nagar to provide the bounties of education to those who have been deprived of it. Along with the regular school the Society has decided to open an Institute for handicapped and spastics with technical guidance and assistance from Justice Tankha Memorial Institute for Handicapped and Spastics, Jabalpur. The Institute started in the month of October 2008 with an initial strength of 18 students from the nearby areas.
2. The School has engaged the services of Special Educators for imparting the requisite training and skills to the special children. The School during this period organized several programs and activities with focus on maximum participation of the children. These efforts culminated in the grand formal inauguration of the School on 4th July 2009. The chief guest of the function was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and the gathering was presided by the former President of Rotary International Mr. Raja Saboo. The efforts of the Society to venture into service of this nature and stature was lauded by one and all. A souvenir was also released on this occasion.
3. The Institute has gone under major renovation of its setup. An investment of Rs.91,165/- was spent in repairs and maintenance of the building. Furniture worth Rs. 33,339/- was also purchased which included special furniture for Special Children keeping in view their needs.
