ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2011-12

The Institute has undertaken several identification camps in the last year for identifying children with special needs. New localities have been added to the list and several students have been identified and registered.

Registrations and Affiliations: The Society has been granted registration Under Section 12 AA of the Income Tax Act and the Registration No. is 77/10-11. The Society has also been granted registration Under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act and the Registration No. is 91/10-11. The Society has also been registered Under Section 52 with the Department of Social Justice and the Society has also received Departmental Registration from the same department.

Special Sports Camps: The students of the Institute have attended camps held for special children at Agra, Rohtak and Gandhinagar. They had a wonderful exposure and they showed great talent in all the activities that they participated in.

Training for Widows and Elderly Women: The Society organized several training and information camps for widows and elderly women in the Gandhi Nagar and adjoining areas to make them aware regarding government schemes being run for their welfare so that they can avail of the facilities and benefits being offered by the government. The Society initiated and helped these women in filling forms for “Old Age Pension Scheme” and “Widow Pension Scheme”.

Republic Day and Independence Day Celebrations: The students at the Institute celebrated Republic Day and Independence Day with a lot of national pride and gaiety. On both the occasions the children sang patriotic songs and a sports meet was also organized. Sweets and prizes were distributed on these occasions.

World Handicapped Day Celebrations: The Society celebrated the World Handicapped Day by distributing “Special Education Kits” to students. A parents- teacher meet was also organized on the occasion and the parents interacted with the staff and members of the Society and shared their experiences. They were also presented with solutions and guidance for their problems by the experts present on the occasion.

World Toilet Day: The Society raised issues for cleanliness and hygiene in the Gandhi Nagar areas in the Public Hearing organized by the Commissioner - Nagar Nigam on the occasion of World Toilet Day on behalf of the people.

Public Awareness Campaign: The Society organized a public awareness campaign focusing on the areas of Gandhi Nagar and Ambedkar Basti. The people were helped in filling forms for issue of Ration Cards so that they could avail of the facilities and benefits being offered by the government for people living below the poverty line.

People were made aware of the benefits of drinking and using clean water in their lives and the methods of water purification. They were given special training in personal health and hygiene by the members of the Society.
