ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2012-13
Start of New Session: The new session of 2013-14 started in the month of July with parents – teacher interaction. The interface was aimed at finding out the problems being faced by the parents of students and their expectations from the Institute. New uniforms were distributed to the students for the new session along with educational material like stationery, books, copies, embroidery material and handicraft items.
Independence Day Celebrations: Like every year Independence Day celebrations at the Institute were conducted with much fanfare. The national flag was hoisted in the presence of members of the Society and parents of the students along with other guests. The students presented colourful program filled with songs and poems filled with patriotism and love for the nation. Gifts and sweets were also distributed on the occasion.
Rakhi Making Workshop: On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, the teachers of the Institute taught the students the art and craft of making Rakhis using silk and wool threads. The students showed immense interest and involvement in the workshop.
Teacher’s Day Celebrations: On 5th September 2013 Teacher’s Day was celebrated at the Institute. Students presented a program in which they played the roles of their teachers. Fruits and sweets were distributed to all the students and staff of the Institute.
Celebration of Justice Tankha’s Birthday: 21st September is the birthday of late Shri V K Tankha in whose memory the Institute is named. Like every year, this year as well it was celebrated with great joy at the Institute. The students went along with the teachers to the market to purchase things like balloons, ribbons, cake, birthday caps, toffees and sweets etc. They decorated the premises with these objects and a birthday cake was also cut on the occasion.
Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations: 2nd October was celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti at the Institute. Floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi were offered on the occasion along with lighting of lamps. A program was also presented by the students at the event to highlight the ideals and contributions of Gandhi ji.
International Senior Citizens Day & World No Alcohol Day: A seven day program was organized by the Social Justice Department (2nd Oct – 8th Oct 2013) at the Community Hall, T T Nagar, Bhopal on the occasion of International Senior Citizen’s Day and World No Alcohol Day. As a part of the event, the students of the Institute had prepared a group dance to be presented by them at the event. The children were extremely enthusiastic regarding the performance. However, due to some unavoidable circumstances they could not present their dance, but didn’t lose heart and were happy to be a part of the program.
Data Collection on Senior Citizens: Between 6th and 7th October, staff of the Institute surveyed the areas around the Institute and collected data on more than 100 senior citizens living there. The information was later handed over to the Department of Social Welfare and Justice.
Training on Decoration of Lamps and Rangoli: A workshop was organized at the Institute between 21st and 27th October in which students were given the training to decorate lamps and rangoli. A Rangoli competition was also organized on the occasion and Geeta, Sabeena, Upma and Laxmi performed exceptionally in the contest.
Children’s Day Celebrations: 14th November was celebrated as Children’s Day at the Institute. Floral tributes and lighting of lamp on the photograph of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru marked the start of the celebrations. Antakshari and Painting Competitions were the highlight of the celebrations.
Psychological and Physical Examination: Students of the Institute were taken to the Regional Rehabilitation Centre for psychological and physical examination. The needy students were given Callipers and Crutches at the Institute. They were all given certificates after the tests as well.
World Handicapped Day: Students participated in the World Handicapped Day celebrations organized by the Department of Social Justice and Welfare at the TT Nagar Stadium, Bhopal on 3rd December 2013. Students were a part of the parade on the occasion and participated in various sports and activities at the event and won several prizes and certificates.
