ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2019
1. The Society has continued to increase its purview and scope and the number of beneficiaries under the Justice Tankha Memorial Institute for Special Children has gone up to seventy two. The Institute has added new students from the areas of Gond Basti and Nai Basti.
2. The institute has been working relentlessly to blend special students in the social mainstream and as a part of these efforts; these students have been encouraged to sit for examinations conducted for normal children. Certificates were distributed to students clearing these examinations.
3. Syed Jalaludin Rizvi – Chief Manager, SBI, a noted hockey player from the city who also happens to be an Olympian and Arjuna Awardee visited the institute and appreciated the efforts of the Society and specially praised the hard work and patience of the staff
4. National Environment Day was celebrated at the Institute on 15th April 2012. Children were educated regarding the importance of environmental conservation and planted saplings in the school garden
5. A Painting Competition was organized by the Institute on 18th April 2012. The participating students displayed immense creativity and joy in their work. Later a prize distribution ceremony was also held to felicitate outstanding performers
6. The students visited Composite Regional Centre for Persons with Disabilities (CRC) for IQ test under the guidance and expertise of Dr Ashutosh Pandit.
7. The Administrator of the School attended a 3 day vocational training course conducted by ARUNIM on 24th April 2012
8. At the start of the new session at the Institute Training and Educational Material distribution to the students.
9. In line with activities of the Society each year, this year also Independence Day Celebrations were held at the Institute with national character and patriotism. The national flag was hoisted and sweets and fruits distributed to the students.
10. Teacher’s Day Celebrations were held at the Institute on 5th Sep 2012.
11. Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at the Institute by making the students aware of the struggle faced by Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom struggle and taking a pledge to work on the path and principles shown by him. A painting and games competition was also held on the occasion.
12. 14th November was celebrated as Children’s day at the Institute. The celebrations were marked by dances and games for the students.
13. Like every year, this year as well World Handicapped Day was celebrated at the Institute with games and competitions for the students. The highlight of the celebrations was an excursion to “Sair Sapata” which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.
14. A Workshop to understand the problems faced by the parents of these special children was also held at the school. The participating parents came forward with the difficulties being faced by them in raising specially abled children and they were provided with solutions by experts at the Institute.
15. Republic Day celebrations were held at the Institute on 26th Jan 2013. The students sang patriotic songs and sweets were distributed to them on the occasion. A games competition was also organized as a part of the celebrations.
